Data plays a crucial role in training learning-based methods for 3D point cloud registration. However, the real-world dataset is expensive to build, while rendering-based synthetic data suffers from domain gaps. In this work, we present PointGPT, boosting 3D Point cloud registration using Generative Point-cloud pairs for Training. Given a single depth map, we first apply a random camera motion to re-project it into a target depth map. Converting them to point clouds gives a training pair. To enhance the data realism, we formulate a generative model as a depth inpainting diffusion to process the target depth map with the re-projected source depth map as the condition. Also, we design a depth correction module to alleviate artifacts caused by point penetration during the re-projection. To our knowledge, this is the first generative approach that explores realistic data generation for indoor point cloud registration. When equipped with our approach, several recent algorithms can improve their performance significantly and achieve SOTA consistently on two common benchmarks. The code and dataset will be released upon publication.

Text-to-image (T2I) diffusion models have shown significant success in personalized text-to-image generation, which aims to generate novel images with human identities indicated by the reference images. Despite promising identity fidelity has been achieved by several tuning-free methods, they usually suffer from overfitting issues. The learned identity tends to entangle with irrelevant information, resulting in unsatisfied text controllability, especially on faces. In this work, we present MasterWeaver, a test-time tuning-free method designed to generate personalized images with both faithful identity fidelity and flexible editability. Specifically, MasterWeaver adopts an encoder to extract identity features and steers the image generation through additional introduced cross attention. To improve editability while maintaining identity fidelity, we propose an editing direction loss for training, which aligns the editing directions of our MasterWeaver with those of the original T2I model. Additionally, a face-augmented dataset is constructed to facilitate disentangled identity learning, and further improve the editability. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our MasterWeaver can not only generate personalized images with faithful identity, but also exhibit superiority in text controllability. Our code will be made publicly available.

Industrial anomaly detection is generally addressed as an unsupervised task that aims at locating defects with only normal training samples. Recently, numerous 2D anomaly detection methods have been proposed and have achieved promising results, however, using only the 2D RGB data as input is not sufficient to identify imperceptible geometric surface anomalies. Hence, in this work, we focus on multi-modal anomaly detection. Specifically, we investigate early multi-modal approaches that attempted to utilize models pre-trained on large-scale visual datasets, i.e., ImageNet, to construct feature databases. And we empirically find that directly using these pre-trained models is not optimal, it can either fail to detect subtle defects or mistake abnormal features as normal ones. This may be attributed to the domain gap between target industrial data and source data. Towards this problem, we propose a Local-to-global Self-supervised Feature Adaptation (LSFA) method to finetune the adaptors and learn task-oriented representation toward anomaly detection. Both intra-modal adaptation and cross-modal alignment are optimized from a local-to-global perspective in LSFA to ensure the representation quality and consistency in the inference stage. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method not only brings a significant performance boost to feature embedding based approaches, but also outperforms previous State-of-The-Art (SoTA) methods prominently on both MVTec-3D AD and Eyecandies datasets, e.g., LSFA achieves 97.1% I-AUROC on MVTec-3D, surpass previous SoTA by +3.4%.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven defect inspection is pivotal in industrial manufacturing. However, existing inspection systems are typically designed for specific industrial products and struggle with diverse product portfolios and evolving processes. Although some previous studies attempt to address object dynamics by storing embeddings in the reserved memory bank, these methods suffer from memory capacity limitations and object distribution conflicts. To tackle these issues, we propose the Incremental Unified Framework (IUF), which integrates incremental learning into a unified reconstruction-based detection method, thus eliminating the need for feature storage in the memory. Based on IUF, we introduce Object-Aware Self-Attention (OASA) to delineate distinct semantic boundaries. We also integrate Semantic Compression Loss (SCL) to optimize non-primary semantic space, enhancing network adaptability for new objects. Additionally, we prioritize retaining the features of established objects during weight updates. Demonstrating prowess in both image and pixel-level defect inspection, our approach achieves state-of-the-art performance, supporting dynamic and scalable industrial inspections. Our code will be released.

In this study, we address the intricate challenge of multi-task dense prediction, encompassing tasks such as semantic segmentation, depth estimation, and surface normal estimation, particularly when dealing with partially annotated data (MTPSL). The complexity arises from the absence of complete task labels for each training image. Given the inter-related nature of these pixel-wise dense tasks, our focus is on mining and capturing cross-task relationships. Existing solutions typically rely on learning global image representations for global cross-task image matching, imposing constraints that, unfortunately, sacrifice the finer structures within the images. Attempting local matching as a remedy faces hurdles due to the lack of precise region supervision, making local alignment a challenging endeavor. The introduction of Segment Anything Model (SAM) sheds light on addressing local alignment challenges by providing free and high-quality solutions for region detection. Leveraging SAM-detected regions, the subsequent challenge lies in aligning the representations within these regions. Diverging from conventional methods that directly learn a monolithic image representation, our proposal involves modeling region-wise representations using Gaussian Distributions. Aligning these distributions between corresponding regions from different tasks imparts higher flexibility and capacity to capture intra-region structures, accommodating a broader range of tasks. This innovative approach significantly enhances our ability to effectively capture cross-task relationships, resulting in improved overall performance in partially supervised multi-task dense prediction scenarios. Extensive experiments conducted on two widely used benchmarks underscore the superior effectiveness of our proposed method, showcasing state-of-the-art performance even when compared to fully supervised methods.

Open-set semi-supervised learning (OSSL) leverages practical open-set unlabeled data for semi-supervised learning (SSL). Open-set unlabeled data comprises in-distribution (ID) samples from seen classes and out-of-distribution (OOD) samples from unseen classes. Prior OSSL methods initially learn the decision boundary of ID and OOD with labeled ID data, followed by self-training to enhance it. These methods, however, suffer from the tendency to overtrust the labeled ID data: the distribution bias between the limited labeled samples and the entire ID data misleads the decision boundary to overfit. The subsequent self-training process, based on the overfitted result, fails to rectify this problem. In this paper, we address the overtrusting issue by treating OOD as an additional class and forming a new SSL process. Specifically, we propose SCOMatch, a novel OSSL method that 1) selects reliable OOD samples as new labeled data by our OOD memory queue and corresponding update strategy, and 2) integrates the new SSL process into the original task through our \textbf{S}imultaneous \textbf{C}lose-set and \textbf{O}pen-set self-training. SCOMatch refines the decision boundary of ID and OOD classes across the entire dataset, thereby leading to a better result. Extensive experimental results show that SCOMatch significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art methods on various benchmarks. Meanwhile, the effectiveness is verified through ablation studies and visualization.

Diffusion models have become a mainstream approach for high-resolution image synthesis. However, directly generating \textbf{higher-resolution} images from pretrained diffusion models will encounter unreasonable object duplication and exponentially increase the generation time. In this paper, we discover that object duplication arises from feature duplication in the deep blocks of the U-Net. Concurrently, We pinpoint the extended generation times to self-attention redundancy in U-Net's top blocks. To address these issues, we propose a tuning-free higher-resolution framework named HiDiffusion. Specifically, HiDiffusion contains Resolution-Aware U-Net~(RAU-Net) that dynamically adjusts the feature map size to resolve object duplication and engages Modified Shifted Window Multi-head Self-Attention~(MSW-MSA) that utilizes optimized window attention to reduce computations. we can integrate HiDiffusion into various pretrained diffusion models to scale image generation resolutions even to 4096×4096 at 1.5-6× the inference speed of previous methods. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our approach can address object duplication and heavy computation issues, achieving state-of-the-art performance on higher-resolution image synthesis tasks.

Tracking multiple objects in a continuous video stream is crucial for many computer vision tasks. It involves detecting and associating objects with their respective identities across successive frames. Despite significant progress made in multiple object tracking (MOT), recent studies have revealed the vulnerability of existing MOT methods to adversarial attacks. Nevertheless, all of these attacks belong to digital attacks that inject pixel-level noise into input images, and are therefore ineffective in physical scenarios. To fill this gap, we propose PapMOT, which can generate physical adversarial patches against MOT for both digital and physical scenarios. Besides attacking the detection mechanism, PapMOT also optimizes a printable patch that can be detected as new targets to mislead the identity association process. Moreover, we introduce a patch enhancement strategy to further degrade the temporal consistency of tracking results across video frames, resulting in more aggressive attacks. We further develop new evaluation metrics to assess the robustness of MOT against such attacks. Extensive evaluations on multiple datasets demonstrate that our PapMOT can successfully attack various architectures of MOT trackers in digital scenarios. We also validate the effectiveness of PapMOT for physical attacks by deploying printed adversarial patches in the real world.

Recently, backdoor attacks have become an emerging threat to the security of machine learning models. From the adversary's perspective, the implanted backdoors should be resistant to defensive algorithms, but some recently proposed fine-tuning defenses can remove these backdoors with notable efficacy. This is mainly due to the catastrophic forgetting (CF) property of deep neural networks. This paper counters CF of backdoors by leveraging continual learning (CL) techniques. We begin by investigating the connectivity between a backdoored and fine-tuned model in the loss landscape. Our analysis confirms that fine-tuning defenses, especially the more advanced ones, can easily push a poisoned model out of the backdoor regions, making it forget all about the backdoors. Based on this finding, we re-formulate backdoor training through the lens of CL and propose a novel framework, named \textbf{S}equential \textbf{B}ackdoor \textbf{L}earning (\textbf{SBL}), that can generate resilient backdoors. This framework separates the backdoor poisoning process into two tasks: the first task learns a backdoored model, while the second task, based on the CL principles, moves it to a backdoored region resistant to fine-tuning. We additionally propose to seek flatter backdoor regions via a sharpness-aware minimizer in the framework, further strengthening the durability of the implanted backdoor. Finally, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our method through extensive empirical experiments on several benchmark datasets in the backdoor domain.

Learning recipe and food image representation in common embedding space is non-trivial but crucial for cross-modal recipe retrieval. In this paper, we propose a new perspective for this problem by utilizing foundation models for data augmentation. Leveraging on the remarkable capabilities of foundation models (i.e., Llama2 and SAM), we propose to augment recipe and food image by extracting alignable information related to the counterpart. Specifically, Llama2 is employed to generate a textual description from the recipe, aiming to capture the visual cues of a food image, and SAM is used to produce image segments that correspond to key ingredients in the recipe. To make full use of the augmented data, we introduce Data Augmented Retrieval framework (DAR) to enhance recipe and image representation learning for cross-modal retrieval. We first inject adapter layers to pre-trained CLIP model to reduce computation cost rather than fully fine-tuning all the parameters. In addition, multi-level circle loss is proposed to align the original and augmented data pairs, which assigns different penalties for positive and negative pairs. On the Recipe1M dataset, our DAR outperforms all existing methods by a large margin. Extensive ablation studies validate the effectiveness of each component of DAR. We will make our code and models publicly available.

Recent research has explored implicit representations, such as signed distance function (SDF), for interacting hand-object reconstruction. SDF enables modeling hand-held objects with arbitrary topology and overcomes the resolution limitations of parametric models, allowing for finer-grained reconstruction. However, modeling elaborate SDF directly based on visual features faces challenges due to depth ambiguity and appearance similarity, especially in cluttered real-world scenes. In this paper, we propose a coarse-to-fine SDF framework for 3D hand-object reconstruction, which leverages the perceptual advantages of RGB-D modality in both visual and geometric aspects, to progressively model the implicit field. Initially, we model coarse-level SDF using global image features to achieve a holistic perception of 3D scenes. Subsequently, we propose a 3D Point-Aligned Implicit Function (3D PIFu) for fine-level SDF learning, which leverages the local geometric clues of the point cloud to capture intricate details. To facilitate the transition from coarse to fine, we extract hand-object semantics from the implicit field as prior knowledge. Additionally, we propose a surface-aware efficient reconstruction strategy that sparsely samples query points based on the hand-object semantic prior. Experiments on two challenging hand-object datasets show that our method outperforms existing methods by a large margin.

This work focuses on the potential of vision large language models (VLLMs) in visual reasoning. Different from prior studies, we shift our focus from evaluating standard performance to introducing a comprehensive safety evaluation suite Unicorn, covering out-of-distribution (OOD) generalization and adversarial robustness. For the OOD evaluation, we present two novel visual question-answering (VQA) datasets, each with one variant, designed to test model performance under challenging conditions. In exploring adversarial robustness, we propose a straightforward attack strategy for misleading VLLMs to produce visual-unrelated responses. Moreover, we assess the efficacy of two jailbreaking strategies, targeting either the vision or language input of VLLMs. Our evaluation of 22 diverse models, ranging from open-source VLLMs to GPT-4V and Gemini Pro, yields interesting observations: 1) Current VLLMs struggle with OOD texts but not images, unless the visual information is limited; and 2) These VLLMs can be easily misled by deceiving vision encoders only, and their vision-language training often compromise safety protocols. We release this safety evaluation suite at https://github.com/UCSC-VLAA/vllm-safety-benchmark.

Diffusion models have shown strong competitiveness in offline reinforcement learning tasks by formulating decision-making as sequential generation. However, the practicality of these methods is limited due to the lengthy inference processes they require. In this paper, we address this problem by decomposing the sampling process of diffusion models into two decoupled subprocesses: 1) generating a feasible trajectory, which is a time-consuming process, and 2) optimizing the trajectory. With this decomposition approach, we are able to partially separate efficiency and quality factors, enabling us to simultaneously gain efficiency advantages and ensure quality assurance. We propose the Trajectory Diffuser, which utilizes a faster autoregressive model to handle the generation of feasible trajectories while retaining the trajectory optimization process of diffusion models. This allows us to achieve more efficient planning without sacrificing capability. To evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of the Trajectory Diffuser, we conduct experiments on the D4RL benchmarks. The results demonstrate that our method achieves $\it 3$-$\it 10 \times$ faster inference speed compared to previous sequence modeling methods, while also outperforming them in terms of overall performance. Codes will be publicly available.

Contextualized Image Captioning (CIC) evolves traditional image captioning into a more complex domain, necessitating the ability for multimodal reasoning. It aims to generate image captions given specific contextual information. This paper further introduces a novel domain of Controllable Contextualized Image Captioning (Ctrl-CIC). Unlike CIC, which solely relies on broad context, Ctrl-CIC accentuates a user-defined highlight, compelling the model to tailor captions that resonate with the highlighted aspects of the context. We present two approaches, Prompting-based Controller (P-Ctrl) and Recalibration-based Controller (R-Ctrl), to generate focused captions. P-Ctrl conditions the model generation on highlight by prepending captions with highlight-driven prefixes, whereas R-Ctrl tunes the model to selectively recalibrate the encoder embeddings for highlighted tokens. Additionally, we design a GPT-4V empowered evaluator to assess the quality of the controlled captions alongside standard assessment methods. Extensive experimental results demonstrate the efficient and effective controllability of our method, charting a new direction in achieving user-adaptive image captioning. Code will be released upon acceptance.

Modern video segmentation methods adopt object queries to perform inter-frame association and demonstrate satisfactory performance in tracking continuously appearing objects despite large-scale motion and transient occlusion. However, they all underperform on newly emerging and disappearing objects that are common in the real world because they attempt to model object emergence and disappearance through feature transitions between background and foreground queries that have significant feature gaps. We introduce Dynamic Anchor Queries (DAQ) to shorten the transition gap between the anchor and target queries by dynamically generating anchor queries based on the features of potential candidates. Furthermore, we introduce a query-level object Emergence and Disappearance Simulation (EDS) strategy, which unleashes the potential of DAQ without any additional cost. Finally, we combine our proposed DAQ and EDS with DVIS~\cite{zhang2023dvis} to obtain DVIS-DAQ. Extensive experiments demonstrate that DVIS-DAQ achieves a new SOTA performance on five mainstream video segmentation benchmarks. Code and models will be available for further study.

Facial Action Units (AU) is a vital concept in the realm of affective computing, and AU detection has always been a hot research topic. Existing methods suffer from overfitting issues due to the utilization of a large number of learnable parameters on scarce AU-annotated datasets or heavy reliance on substantial additional relevant data. Parameter-Efficient Transfer Learning (PETL) provides a promising paradigm to address these challenges, whereas its existing methods lack design for AU characteristics. Therefore, we innovatively investigate PETL paradigm to AU detection, introducing AUFormer and proposing a novel Mixture-of-Knowledge Expert (MoKE) collaboration mechanism. An individual MoKE specific to a certain AU with minimal learnable parameters first integrates personalized multi-scale and correlation knowledge. Then the MoKE collaborates with other MoKEs in the expert group to obtain aggregated information and inject it into the frozen Vision Transformer (ViT) to achieve parameter-efficient AU detection. Additionally, we design a Margin-truncated Difficulty-aware Weighted Asymmetric Loss (MDWA-Loss), which can encourage the model to focus more on activated AUs, differentiate the difficulty of unactivated AUs, and discard potential mislabeled samples. Extensive experiments from various perspectives, including within-domain, cross-domain, data efficiency, and micro-expression domain, demonstrate AUFormer's state-of-the-art performance and robust generalization abilities without relying on additional relevant data. The code will be available on GitHub.

Transformer-based restoration methods achieve significant performance as the self-attention (SA) of the Transformer can explore non-local information for better high-resolution image reconstruction. However, the key dot-product SA requires substantial computational resources, which limits its application in low-power devices. Moreover, the low-pass nature of the SA mechanism limits its capacity for capturing local details, consequently leading to smooth reconstruction results. To address these issues, we propose a self-modulation feature aggregation (SMFA) module to collaboratively exploit both local and non-local feature interactions for a more accurate reconstruction. Specifically, the SMFA module employs an efficient approximation of self-attention (EASA) branch to model non-local information and uses a local detail estimation (LDE) branch to capture local details.Additionally, we further introduce a partial convolution-based feed-forward network (PCFN) to refine the representative features derived from the SMFA. Extensive experiments show that the proposed SMFANet family achieves a better trade-off between reconstruction performance and computational efficiency on public benchmark datasets. In particular, compared to the $\times$4 SwinIR-light, SMFANet+ achieves \textbf{0.14dB} higher performance over five public testsets on average, and \textbf{$\times$10} times faster runtime, with only about \textbf{43\%} of the model complexity (\textit{e.g.,} FLOPs).

Large Multimodal Models (LMMs) such as GPT-4V and LLaVA have shown remarkable capabilities in visual reasoning on data in common image styles. However, their robustness against diverse style shifts, crucial for practical applications, remains largely unexplored. In this paper, we propose a new benchmark, BenchLMM, to assess the robustness of LMMs toward three different styles: artistic image style, imaging sensor style, and application style. Utilizing BenchLMM, we comprehensively evaluate state-of-the-art LMMs and reveal: 1) LMMs generally suffer performance degradation when working with other styles; 2) An LMM performs better than another model in common style does not guarantee its superior performance in other styles; 3) LMMs' reasoning capability can be enhanced by prompting LMMs to predict the style first, based on which we propose a versatile and training-free method for improving LMMs; 4) An intelligent LMM is expected to interpret the causes of its errors when facing stylistic variations. We hope that our benchmark and analysis can shed new light on developing more intelligent and versatile LMMs. The benchmark and evaluation have been released on https://github.com/AIFEG/BenchLMM

Reconstructing the geometry and topology structure from raw unstructured data has always been an important research topic in indoor mapping. In this paper, we aim to reconstruct the floorplan with a vectorized representation from point clouds. Although considerable advancements have been achieved in this field over recent years, current methods still face several challenges, including missing corners or edges, inaccurate corner positions or angles, self-intersecting or overlapping polygons and even implausible topology. To address these challenges, we present PolyRoom, a room-aware Transformer for floorplan reconstruction by introducing uniform sampling representation, room query initialization and hierarchical self-attention. Specifically, we first project the 3D point clouds as a 2D density map and initialize room queries through instance segmentation and uniform sampling. Then, in the Transformer, room queries first interact with each other with hierarchical self-attention. After that, with deformable cross-attention, vertex coordinates are refined layer by layer under dense supervision. Finally, the compact and structured floorplan is extracted through simple corner vertex selection operations. Experimental results on two widely used datasets demonstrate that PolyRoom outperforms current state-of-the-art methods both quantitatively and qualitatively. We will publicly share all our code.

Inter-image association modeling is crucial for co-salient object detection. Despite the satisfactory performance, previous methods still have limitations on sufficient inter-image association modeling. This is because most of them focus on image feature optimization under the guidance of heuristically calculated raw inter-image associations. They directly rely on raw associations which are not reliable in complex scenarios and their image feature optimization approach is not explicit for inter-image association modeling. To alleviate these limitations, this paper propose a deep association learning strategy that deploy deep networks on raw associations to explicitly transform them into deep association features. Specifically, we first create hyperassociations to collect dense pixel-pair-wise raw associations and then deploys deep aggregation networks on them. We design a progressive association generation module for this purpose with additional enhancement of the hyperassociation calculation. More importantly, we propose a correspondence-induced association condensation module that introduces a pretext task, i.e. semantic correspondence estimation, to condense the hyperassociations for computational burden reduction and noise elimination. We also design an object-aware cycle consistency loss for high-quality correspondence estimations. Experimental results on three benchmark datasets demonstrate the remarkable effectiveness of our proposed method with various training settings.
